  1. Showtime!!

As mentioned in an earlier blog – Plymouth Stone will be at the Devon County Show from Thursday 22nd May until Saturday 24th May.  This means our showroom in Plymouth will be closed during the three days of the show.  It is still possible for you to visit the premises where the very helpful lady in the Martin and Sons office will be happy to take information and relay it to us.  We do hope you will get chance to visit our stand at the Exeter showground and see the many other attractions that this wonderful County show has to offer.

  2. Softly does it

033 resize Matt granite is becoming more popular as our clients are seeking alternatives to the more traditional polished worktops and this beautiful Steel Grey Satinato granite was the perfect choice for Mr and Mrs S of Plymouth and complements their beautifully crafted cabinets which were hand built and painted  by Windmill Kitchens of Dobwalls.  We were very flattered by their comments below.

We want to thank you both for your help, advice and great customer care.  You go that extra mile and we are grateful.

The granite you provided and installed (grey steel – soft touch) is absolutely wonderful in all aspects and gets many admiring comments.

Apart from looking good it is so practical and very tactile!

Satinato or Skintouch finishes are available on all granites, however its the ones with the larger pieces of quartz in where this finish comes into its’ own.  The natural pitting that is in all granites is enhanced with the brushing process to create a really unique look.

  4. Are we there yet?? (nearly)

granites 015Slowly but surely the new showroom is taking shape.  We now have worktops on the units in both front and back showroom.  This –  rather naked –  shot of the front showroom highlights Solarius granite with its’ striking gold and cream quartz colours it really is rather special.  Shown here on oak units, it is equally at home on cream cabinets either high gloss or soft matt.  Our peninsular piece shows an ogee profile which does suit this lovely stone, the rest is finished in a classic pencil round profile.  Our undermounted sink is finished off with a grooved recessed area and elegant brushed chrome monobloc tap.  Both sink and tap are available to buy from us and we now have an extensive range of sinks and taps on offer.  Just call in or phone for a brochure

Our next job is now to dress our displays to show them off in all their glory.  We still have some way to go but we are getting there.  At least our clients can now sit down!!.

  5. A worktop fit for a King!

MartynWe recently installed this pretty Caramello granite worktop and our clients are over the moon.  On a previous blog you can see the same colour granite used as a vanity top.  This shows the versatility of using granite for both rooms in the house.  Caramello with it’s soft greys, browns and creams enhances the beauty of these stylish kitchen cabinets.  An upstand around the kitchen with a granite window cill too finishes off this superb room.

A note from our happy clients:

‘As promised I attach photo of Caramello worktop we just had fitted last week and finished Burford Grey kitchen.

Thanks again for all your professional advice and help.’

  6. Why are we waiting?

showroom 1Our new showroom is still taking shape. A month after we were hoping for completion and we’re still waiting!! Why? because we’re just too busy making beautiful stone worktops for all our wonderful clients.  So unfortunately our showroom has had to take a back seat for another couple of weeks.  This hasn’t stopped anyone from visiting though and although the showroom leaves a lot to be desired at the moment we have still been able to provide the very best in customer service to everyone that’s come along.

The photo of the ‘not quite finished’ Platinum White Diamond Silestone table top also shows a brief glimpse of our varied selection of sensational natural stone floor tiles.  In the photo you are able to see walnut and cream honed and filled travertine and also polished Antalya white limestone.  There is an extensive range of both natural stone and porcelain tiles for both floors and walls to be found in the showroom.  If you need some inspiration come and see us soon.

  7. Pretty as a picture!

Kashmir lime WEBJust arrived at our Plymouth yard is this unusual and very pretty granite.  Kashmir Lime an Indian granite has pretty swirls of grey, and a fresh green with warmer tones of ochre.  This picture does not do this truly lovely slab justice and it would be well worth a visit to our yard just to see and appreciate it.  Kashmir Lime would benefit from being shown on light oak or pale cream cabinets.  This is a perfect choice for the most discerning client.

  8. A showroom update

Just a note on the progress of our refurbishment.  The new units have been fitted in both the front and back showroom now and worktops will follow soon.  The floor in the front has been tiled with beautiful Jura Beige and Jura Grey limestone tiles – these tiles are suitable for both floors and walls in any room of the house, and are a really economical  price too!  The back showroom will have a variety of different limestone, marble and travertine tiles so you can get a feel for how good they could look in your own home.

We hope to be fully open around the second week of January 2014.  Another update with some pictures to follow next week.  In the meantime you are of course still very welcome to call in and see us to discuss your requirements.

  9. Many thanks – thrilled!!

Angolan Black granite worktop webMany thanks- thrilled! said the thank you card from Mr and Mrs C of North Devon.  Originally looking for a light coloured granite to grace their units they were swayed by this beautiful highly polished Angolan Black granite.  This wonderful stone has depth of colour and warmth and with such fantastic light reflection it really lifts and illuminates the kitchen – who says you need light colours! Our clients were so pleased with the results – and their choice of granite?…………. perfect.

  10. OUT WITH THE OLD!!!!

showroom refurbWe are currently undergoing a complete renovation of our showroom and not before time!!.

The bulk of the work will happen over the Christmas period, so please bear with us during that time as although we are open we don’t have a working showroom.  You will still be very welcome to call in as we will be happy to help you select  granite colours for your kitchen.  We’ve decided not to open on Sundays through the Christmas period from the 15th December through to the 29th December.  Normal service will resume in January.

We’re very excited about our new showroom which will showcase Silestone worktops in 12mm, 20mm and 30mm thickness.  We will have a beautiful new granite worktop in the front of the showroom and …….. most wonderful of all…………. a coffee machine!!! – if you fancy popping in for a coffee and to discuss your new kitchen or bathroom tops we would love to see you.

A very happy Christmas and prosperous New Year to all our customers past and present.
